| “Are the numbers for real?” is the question we continue to be asked. We can tell you this, his EPD’s reflect two years of fall calf data from Gibbs Farms and two years of spring calf data from Triangle J Ranch in Miller, Nebraska. Last year, at Gibbs Farms, we decided to put him to the true calving ease test. We put him with our SimAngus virgin heifers, with no A.I. in front of him, and let him breed them all. This past fall we had 47 two year old heifers deliver Rookie calves requiring only 2 light assist, that’s 95.8% unassisted calving on two year old first calf heifers. The acceptance of his sons have been unbelievable as his sire groups were the high selling sire groups, demanding over a $1,000 more than the sale average at both the Gibbs Farms and Triangle J Ranch Sales. Gordon Hodges and Darby Line, both very experienced and well known cattlemen, have made the statement that Rookie is the most unusual and impressive bull they have ever experienced.
